68th Annual Emmy Nominations

The fantasy drama earned the most awards in Emmy 2015 and could be this year's massive victor again.

NBC received 42 Primetime Emmy® nominations from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, leading the broadcast networks and surpassing its 41 nominations received a year ago.

The nods for the series also included best supporting actor and actress nominations for last year's victor Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headley, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams and nods for writers David Benioff and DB Weiss.

The 10-part drama on basic-cable channel FX chronicling the sensational, polarizing murder trial of O.J. Simpson in 1995 earned 22 nominations in all, including a bid for best limited series and best actor for Cuba Gooding Jr., for his title role as the disgraced former football star.

Left out of the fun (besides a casting nod) was Netflix's Orange is the New Black, which won Uzo Aduba an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series statue previous year and an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series award in 2014.

The award ceremony for the 68th Primetime Emmy Award will be held in Los Angeles on 18th of September and Games of thrones, who received the most number of nominations, will doub be favorites to receive the most number of awards too.

There were also nods for Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, for their writing on comedy Catastrophe, and for The Americans' Matthew Rhys, who was nominated in the best drama actor category.

The fifth season of American Horror Story: Hotel scored eight nominations including nominations for its stars Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates for their supporting work on the series.

Best drama rivals include the final season of "Downton Abbey" and past victor, "Homeland".

Costume designer Terry Dresbach and her team are nominated for the Outstanding Costumes For A Period/Fantasy Series, Limited Series Or Movie category.

The other category announced Thursday morning was outstanding variety talk series; Jerry Seinfeld's web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee; Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

A host of stars from Game Of Thrones are also up for acting awards.

On the comedy side, “Veep, ” ‘black-ish” and “Master of None” will tussle for the trophy with five-time champ “Modern Family, ” ‘Transparent, ” ‘Silicon Valley” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”. It's up for best limited series, and earned three acting nominations as well.
