Allyson Felix misses out on Olympic double by less than a second

Ostrander spent most of her time in the middle of pack before moving herself into fourth place with only a mile to go.

Douglas is attempting to become the first reigning Olympic all-around gold medalist to return for the next games since Nadia Comaneci in 1980.

Three sprinters join the team to complete the women's relay pool: Ariana Washington, Francena McCorory and Courtney Okolo. But with more free time on her hands than originally planned.

She seemed prepared for heartache again at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials.

Dalilah Muhammad was the easy victor in the race with her World-leading time of 52.88, while Ashley Spencer (54.02) and Sydney McLaughlin (54.15) rounded out the three Olympic qualifiers in the event.

Her third place time of 54.15 at the Trials, which broke the 11-year-old World Junior record, places McLaughlin No. 6 in the world this season.

"I definitely had a moment where I didn't think I could do it, and [my coaches] told me "You're getting on the line and running this race".

Martinez had edged Eccleston by.03 seconds.

Jenny Simpson won the women's event in 4:04.74 after a 59.97 last lap.

GYMNASTICS: Simone Biles can officially book that plane ticket for Brazil. Biles has a total of 77.4 points through five rotations, almost two points clear of Laurie Hernandez. None other than Nadia Comaneci. She was beaten out for third place by.01 seconds by a diving Jenna Prandini in the 200-meter final.

Also off the table - the 200-400 Olympic double. With Felix in mind, Olympic organizers changed the schedule to allow for the women's 2-4 double.

She did make the 400-meter lineup, and that is, indeed, quite an accomplishment considering the injury she suffered this spring.

Tori Bowie of adidas rolled to a 22.25 victory.

"I hate that she's not on the team in 200, but she made the team in the 400", said Bowie, who also qualified for the USA team in the 100.

"I could only do what I could with the ankle and unfortunately that's what suffered", said Felix, who was timed in 22.54 seconds, behind victor Tori Bowie (22.25), former California junior college champion Deajah Stevens (22.30) and Prandini (22.53). It made McLaughlin the youngest athlete to make the U.S. Olympic track team since 1972.

The stars of the London Games joined American leader Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Aly Raisman and Maggie Kocian as the five women named Sunday night to the Olympic gymnastics team headed to the Rio Games, a selection panel announced at the SAP Center shortly after the final day of competition at the US trials.

JUMP, JUMP: 2012 Olympic silver medalist Erik Kynard looked sharp in high jump qualifying. So while the Hernando native finished tied for sixth in the final of the Olympic Trials, he will still be in Rio with victor Erik Kynard and third place finisher Bradley Adkins.

Long jumper Lewis, the sister of nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl, did not compete at the 1980 Moscow Games because the USA boycotted the event.

It wouldn't have mattered if Molly Huddle celebrated this one early.

But U.S. trials don't guarantee anything, and on Sunday, a few more potential medal contenders - including 400-meter hurdlers Johnny Dutch and Bershawn Jackson - also saw some dreams end early.

In 2015, she won bronze in the 100 at the world championships in Beijing. She finished third in the 5,000. She said this week she'll likely focus on the 5,000 alone in Rio.

Of the 127 athletes on the team, 84 will be making their Olympic debut.

Kim Conley is going back to the Olympics.

"Honestly, I'm disappointed", said Felix. Morris cleared 15-7 while Weeks topped out at 15-5.

Jenn Suhr competes during the women's pole vault final at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, Sunday, July 10, 2016, in Eugene Ore.

"Regardless of what happens in Rio, I made it here and I'm just so thankful for all of that". Dalilah Muhammad won a silver medal at the 2013 world championships.

She finished the race, which was held at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, in just of 54.15 seconds, a new world junior-record.

Tatum thanked his high school teammates and his fellow nominees, saying, "Any one of us could have won this award".
