A year ago, Wade and the Heat nearly parted ways before settling on a $20 million, one-year deal.
Despite that offer, a source told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that the two sides are at "a bit of an impasse", with the Heat remaining optimistic that the two sides will get a deal done.
It is not yet clear how these two communicated with Wade or what they talked about but the notion of Rondo convincing the former Heat shooting guard to join him in a team is very interesting especially since these two have a rough history. And the Heat began dealing with the aftermath of him leaving Miami and deciding to sign with his hometown Chicago Bulls. The team did not disclose terms of the contract, but the four-time All-Star has previously told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears that he agreed to a two-year contract worth nearly $28 million.
"I've been in Miami for 13 years, I mean 13 incredible years", he said.
"Surreal", Wade said on the television show, alongside host Kelly Ripa. The Bulls also lost Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah to free agency, so Rondo immediately becomes one of the team's most experienced, battle-tested players.
They got a whole lot more interesting by adding Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade this week. And I've always, like, envisioned myself being in the backyard, always had a Bulls jersey on, always envisioned Dwyane Wade's name being called in the United Center.
Bulls Now Have Three Alphas But It's The Jimmy Team
"The main thing is trying to mesh together and sacrifice and just trying to do what's best for the team", Rondo said. Then, when the season ends, Wade will help us get Westbrook and then the Bulls will go for a ring the following season.
"It will be fraught with anger, judgment, blame instead of THANK YOU!!!" You've had a tremendous impact on our community and our organisation.
"Playing in Boston, playing with the Big 3, I was able to see how those guys interacted with one another".
Still, Wade said he's "excited to go back to the place where I envisioned playing basketball".
This Bulls team with the addition of Wade is looking like they could make some noise in the East, but it is still likely not enough to compete with the Raptors and Cavaliers. I think we can look forward to the battles he will have with his buddy LeBron in the next few years as well.
