Donald Trump and Mike Pence to Appear on '60 Minutes' Together

Donald Trump may have never wanted Mike Pence, which is why someone is his campaign is trashing the VP choice hours after it was announced.

Trump revealed his choice of Pence as his Vice President on Friday after previously indicating that he would delay the announcement due to the terrorist attack in Nice, France.

Pence, a staunch conservative who served six terms in Congress, is seen as a running mate who would have the backing of GOP leaders and ease some of their concerns about Trump's political inexperience and volatile temperament.

"By picking Mike Pence as his running mate, Donald Trump has doubled down on some of his most disturbing beliefs by choosing an incredibly divisive and unpopular running mate", said John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chairman. While some conservatives are skeptical of Trump's political leanings, Pence has been a stalwart ally on social issues.

But Pence initially endorsed Ted Cruz, albeit without enthusiasm, and there were some reports that the IN governor disliked Trump.

"Trump has "reached a decision but he isn't prepared to announce it yet", Manafort said on the "Fox & Friends" program", adding that "until he announces it, there is no formal nominee". That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the process, who spoke to The Associated Press on Friday on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to publicly discuss the details of Trump's search for a running mate.

The two also disagree about free trade, specifically concerning the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Immigration: In a December tweet, Pence called Trump's ban on Muslims entering the United States "offensive and unconstitutional".

The internet was quick to mock Christie, saying he had been "released unharmed" by Trump - a reference to the New Jersey governor's gormless face at a campaign event earlier this year, which was likened to that of someone taken hostage.

With his bid for national office, Pence is expected to become the first Indiana governor to pull his name from the ballot and be replaced by another candidate, who will be selected by the Indiana Republican Party. Reaction from IN agriculture has come quickly, and the sector believes it is a smart move for Trump. "There are a lot of good reasons that Mike Pence's approval ratings in IN are so low and many of them have to do with how he has treated our environment and the health of our families".

Several Republicans have taken steps to possibly replace Mike Pence as their party's candidate for governor. Yet his popularity at home has tumbled and re-election was not guaranteed.

Clinton's rapid response team went to work immediately, not only dropping the lengthy email to followers but also tweeting out a series of images summarizing their arguments against Pence and using the pick to call for donations.

A source close to the campaign said Trump appeared to be leaning toward Pence but could easily change his mind.

As a devout Christian, Pence could bring evangelicals, wary of Trump's inconsistent stances on abortion and same-sex marriage, into the fold.
