Environment Canada Issues Special Weather Statement, Hot Week Ahead

Mississauga, as well as other cities in southern Ontario, can expect some high temperatures starting this week from Tuesday to Thursday, according to a recent statement from Environment Canada.

"A hot and humid air mass from the Gulf of Mexico will affect most of southern Ontario from Tuesday through Thursday", an Environment Canada notice says.

Current details: Humidex values reaching near 40 are expected.

However, showers or thunderstorms are possible in some area, which may bring some relief.

Tuesday's UV rating is forecast at 9 - very high.

Overnight temperatures will stay around 20 C, making for some warm and muggy nights.

Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.

Officials also warned about leaving people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight during higher than normal temperatures, which can pose an increased risk of heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
