Speaking That Hashtag Show, Kinberg, who will serve as producer, confirmed when cameras will start rolling.

Kinberg also revealed that Deadpool 2 is looking to start shooting at the beginning of 2017, and he's planning to start writing the next installment of the core X-Men films "real soon".

Gambit is a character that we have not seen much of in the X-Men universe but will be properly introduced in a standalone film.

After a number of replacement directors were considered - including Shane Black, F Gary Gray and Joe Cornish - eventually the job went to Doug Liman ('The Bourne Identity, ' "Edge of Tomorrow"), and initially the film was still aiming for a 2016 release, until Fox officially lifted it from their schedule in February.

Chances are then that Deadpool 2 will be released in 2018, with the next X-Men movie probably following in 2019 (that release date would give the franchise a breather and may leave room for Bryan Singer to return once he's finished with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea). Both films will start production after Wolverine 3 and Deadpool 2. Another choice is that Kinberg may be referring to "The New Mutants" film adaptation - another "X-Men" project that is still in the earliest stages of pre-production, but has always been rumored to be coming sooner than later. The "heist movie" and a "sexy thriller" could start filming as early as spring 2017.

Another thing that is already in the pipeline is Director Simon Kinberg says he is already working on the next X-Men movie. It's very loyal to the comics. "We have a great script on that, and hope to shoot that movie at the beginning of spring of next year", he said. "We have a really good script and hoping to shoot that real soon, too".
