Brother of Pakistani social media celebrity and model Qandeel Baloch has been arrested by the police on Sunday for strangling his sister to death at her residence in Multan on Saturday.
Reactions to the brutal murder of Pakistani model and sensation queen Qandeel Baloch refuses to die down days after she was killed by her own brother.
"Yes of course, I strangled her. I am not ashamed". All we can do is pray for Baloch after this terrible murder.
Qandeel was dubbed Pakistan's Kim Kardashian for her provocative photos. In fact, her sometimes raunchy postings, photographs and comments were often frowned up in the very conservative country that Pakistan is.
Azeem's anger apparently stems from a moment when Baloch posed for pictures with a prominent Muslim cleric named Mufti Abdul Qavi, leaving Azeem angry at what he termed as disrespect for his religion.
As previously reported, Wasim disappeared shortly after strangling Baloch, 26, on Friday, July 15, but was found and arrested shortly afterward, after their father filed a police complaint against him.
He fled with two friends, who are said to be still on the run, and police are still investigating their role in this terrible and tragic situation.
According to a report in Tribune.com.pk, Waseem said, "I proudly admit to murdering Qandeel and I have earned heaven and honour by providing relief to my parents". Baloch had a large following of more than 700,000 people on her official Facebook page.
Baloch, believed to be in her twenties, had travelled with her family from the city of Karachi to Muzzafarabad village in central Punjab province for the recent Eid holiday.
Three weeks ago, she had written to the interior minister, the director general of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) and the senior superintendent of Islamabad asking them to provide security to her.
