It is obvious that Manchester United were a option but now they are really the frontrunners to get the Frenchman Paul Pogba.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic's humour is one of his major strengths and has described him as a "funny guy" following his move from Paris Saint-Germain. When asked about the Juventus one, Pogba said that Juventus is his team and family.
And after then being presented with a United shirt and questioned about what he would do if Mourinho called him, the France worldwide replied: "My answer...I don't know".
Pogba was in Los Angeles for the 2016 ESPY awards (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award), where he also described United to ESPN broadcasters as "my first club, my first family".
His agent Mino Raiola has already helped United finalise deals for Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer - so a third could be in the offing. I am very comfortable.
Carrick says the opening week has been "enjoyable" under the new manager and says the sessions under the ex-Real Madrid and Inter coach have not yet been too taxing.
The Portuguese tactician has given the veteran forward an extended break ahead of the new season with Ibrahimovic being allowed to skip United's China tour. For the moment I'm at Juve and I'm happy. I don't know where I want to go'.
United would have to stump up over £100m if they are to lure Pogba back to Old Trafford as Juventus are keen to keep hold of the midfielder.
Jose Mourinho is about to embark on his first season since replacing Louis van Gaal as manager.
