It's still weird to see Elizabeth Bank's Rita costume- being nearly literally alien to the character's original look-but the idea of her being a little more than a loveable, cackling despot and going after the rangers while they're not powered up and ready to kick her butt is an interesting one.
Following the character posters released this morning, a new Power Rangers photos has debuted online featuring Elizabeth Banks' villain, Rita Repulsa, as she attempts to take on the Rangers one by one, with her first target being the Yellow Ranger, Trini, played by Becky G.
It looks as though the "Power Rangers" have their work cut out... Actually, I got to run through the wall a couple of times.
At bare minimum, the marketing for Power Rangers is off to a great start.
And let's face it - Rita is looking more badass than ever before. "We have some reshoots coming up which I'm excited for, because I'll get to see everybody again". We'll find out soon enough.
"We're done with the majority of filming now", she explained. No doubt, more images and maybe even footage from the film will come out of Comic-Con next week, but for now, it seems like a curious first image to show to the public. Lionsgate is targeting a March 24, 2017 theatrical release.
Fleshing out the main bulk of its leading cast with a series of relative unknowns, Power Rangers also stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Ludi Lin, and R.J. Cyler.
