Honoree Taylor Swift attends The 64th Annual BMI Pop Awards, honoring Taylor Swift and songwriting duo Mann & Weil, at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel on May 10, 2016 in Beverly Hills, California. The "Blank Space" singer was just named the highest-earning celebrity of 2016.
She chatted to the young patients, posed for photos and even sang a couple of her songs for them, sending social media into a frenzy as she did so. In 2015 she was tied for eighth on Forbes list after bringing in $80 million from June 2014 to June 2015.
Her ranking in this year's list puts her way above Katy Perry, who was hailed as the top-earning musician of 2015. Swift also has endorsement deals with Diet Coke, Keds and Apple.
Forbes said Swift's earnings were largely from her 1989 World Tour, during which she smashed the Rolling Stones' North American record, grossing US$200 million on the continent en route to a quarter of a billion worldwide.
Musical artists One Direction came in second on this year's list with $110 million. Rounding out the top 5 were author James Patterson ($95 million); talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (both $88 million); and comedian Kevin Hart ($87.5 million).
Other singers on the Forbes list were Adele (No. 9 with $80.5 million), Madonna (No. 12 with $76.5 million), and Rihanna (No. 13 with $75 million).
