Erdogan Restates Turkey's Right to Combat Threats in Syria, Iraq

Turkey will not accept orders from Iraq regarding the Bashiqa military base, stated Turkish Presidet Recep Erdogan, cited by the Anadolu Agency.

"We have live records of all of them and it will be broadcast on television channels today or tomorrow", he said.

"Now, he [Abadi] says: "Withdraw from here".

"The army of the Republic of Turkey has not lost its standing so as to take instructions from you". "You are not my interlocutor, you are not at my level", Erdogan told a meeting in Istanbul, in comments addressed to Abadi. "You screaming and shouting is of no importance to us". "You should know that we will do what we want to do".

The soldiers were sent to Bashiqa at the request of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi. "First you know your place!"

Erdoğan also said his troops are near Mosul because the Iraqi government - al-Habadi himself, in fact - asked for their assistance two years ago.

Daesh, which is outlawed in Russian Federation, the United States and many other countries, has taken over large territories of Syria and Iraq, including Mosul, one of the largest cities of Iraq, since 2014, declaring a caliphate on the territories under its control and committing numerous human rights atrocities.

"The court ruling came at a fit time for Maliki who will further assert himself and send a message to other political parties that he's still strong and almost impossible to ignore", Baghdad-based political analyst Wathiq al-Hashimi said.

Iraq condemned the vote, and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned Turkey risked triggering a regional war.

The Turkish army, its senior ranks purged following a failed military attempt to overthrow Erdogan in July, launched an incursion into Syria in August to push back ISIS and prevent USA -backed Kurdish militia fighters from seizing territory.

Ankara has maintained that it is there to train Sunni fighters opposed to the Islamic State as well as Kurdish peshmerga fighters. The Turkish president has expressed his country's willingness to join the battle under a similar understanding it had reached for the recapture of Jarabulus in Syria.

"The Turkish military will enter Mosul".
