Sony set their eyes on the 4th of July weekend two-and-a-half years from now and marked July 5, 2019, as the day Spider-Man: Senior Prom will hit theaters.
So the MCU rumbles on, only this time the Sony logo appears before the Marvel one has a chance.
The Independent reported that "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is part of a six-picture deal Tom Holland, the new Spiderman, signed with Marvel Studios.
As we know, spiders - and Spider-Man - don't like rain, let alone going headfirst into a freezing lake, but, interestingly, this is a moment definitely not featured in any of the trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spider-Man 2 snagged a $180 million Wed-Mon debut over the holiday in 2004 and The Amazing Spider-Man earned $137m over its Tues-Sun debut back in 2012. And though this is an official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony/Columbia have retained co-production and distribution rights.
"It was really interesting because NY high schools are so different than the schools that I went to in London", he continued. "I think it looks great, I'm really excited to see it, I can't wait", he said.
Of course, there's no way they're calling it Homecoming 2.
Spider-Man then faced off against Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk and makes a quick work on the Avengers copycats complete with his annoying and sometimes witty remarks, reports Yahoo!
Spider-Man has been a big blockbuster brand at the box office. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which considered the lowest grossing has still accumulated almost $710 million yet the Spider-Man 3 which is the top-grossing film in 2007 took $890 million and became the biggest superhero movie ever made. "Spider-Man" is the highest-selling Marvel comics of all time.
