Devastating Thai striker Tim Means, meanwhile, welcomes Norway's Emil Meek to the UFC.
Now, only one of the fighters will be competing for that title. I think Mein's experience advantage will help him greatly in this fight. Anthony is incredibly versatile, but I can see Max pushing him back and making him retreat. But in his second fight at featherweight, he didn't come close.
Jordan Mein to win by TKO in Rd2.
Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, who was at the weigh-ins in Toronto is reporting that they have reached an agreement.
This UFC 206 card must be cursed.
PH: It has been more than two years since we last saw Tim Kennedy in the Octagon.
"I don't know how".
"From what happened in Milwaukee to my house, to becoming a title shot, it's been a rollercoaster of a training camp for me", says Pettis. Pettis failed to make weight, which temporarily put the fight in limbo before UFC President Dana White chose to keep the bout on the card, but declare Pettis ineligible to win the title. He can go ask himself again whose style he's trying to be, because I ain't trying to be like that style.
Pettis becomes the first fighter since 2007 to miss weight for a championship bout.
"So we kind of pushed back from that, focused back on the fight". He is fighting well of late and it should continue versus a fighter who could have some ring rust.
We also have the veteran Cub Swanson taking on rising Korean "Superboy", Dooho Choi.
Giordano told Sportsnet Thursday he had no concerns about Pettis potentially missing weight even though his first cut to 145 pounds was hard. He is so no threatening looking, but somehow he posses some of the best power in the division. I like Cub, but I haven't been all that impressed with his last two fights. So this is my opportunity, and I've gotta have that back against the wall mentality, and I have to be the hungrier wolf and try to get after it.
Doo Ho Choi to win by TKO in Rd2. Choi has been dominating his competition with a ton of first round knock outs.
'Those extra two rounds will be fine because I'm a professional. Both fighters love to stand and trade punches, which makes for lots of excitement.
Cerrone admitted as much earlier in the week. "I'm here for one thing and that's the belt and if there's some other big fights that present itself I'll take them too". Then we'll see December 10 when that cage door is locked. I want this to be a great fight, but I think that Cerrone will use his superior striking to end this fight quickly.
DP: This will be a fun fight to watch, but Cerrone should dominate.
Anthony Pettis came in three pounds overweight for his interim title showdown with Max Holloway, which serves as the main event of the UFC's pay-per-view in Toronto.
Should Holloway, the No. 2-ranked contender, beat Pettis, he will be handed the interim featherweight crown and a guaranteed shot at 145-pound title holder Jose Aldo to decide the undisputed champion. The good news for Holloway, though, is that he still gets a crack at the interim featherweight title.
Pettis, on the other hand, is the opposite.
As someone who has evolved immensely over the past five years, it's exciting to see what Holloway has in store for the likes of Pettis and current featherweight king Jose Aldo, assuming he'll one day get his hands on the Brazilian. We did everything right beforehand, everything was on point. Pettis will look to take the fight to the ground were he can be very creative with his submissions. In a messed up situation now, Holloway can win the belt, but since Pettis missed weight he cannot. Holloway via Unanimous Decision. Pettis (19-5) was 148 pounds at the official weigh-in, exceeding the allowed weight of 145. Holloway has been great on his nine fight winning streak and has been putting on a show in most of those fights.
