His "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories" sketch replayed encounters with various celebs such as Rick James and Prince when he was a member of his brother's entourage. His rep Domenick Nati confirmed to Variety that the star lost his battle with leukemia.

Charlie Murphy, who was the star of "Chappelle's Show" and also wrote some of the film scripts for his more famous brother, has sadly passed away at the relatively young age of 57.

Former basketball great Magic Johnson tweeted: "I haven't seen anything as amusing as Charlie Murphy & Dave Chappelle's skits on the Chappelle's Show!". In the skit, Murphy describes the experience of losing to Prince in a basketball game while Chappelle portrays the musician in a re-enactment of the story. Aside from co-writing some of Eddie Murphy's movies, including Norbit, he is perhaps best known for his sketches on Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show.

Celebrities paid tribute to the late actor on Twitter. "Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers", the statement said. I laugh until it hurts. Charlie leaves behind daughter Ava Murphy and son Xavier Murphy, as well as his child from a previous relationship.
