Harden gets 21st triple-double, leads Rockets past Kings

Harden had 35 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds, leading the Rockets to a 135-128 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

"We'll certainly give input in terms of resting, in terms of how it may be helpful to him", Donovan said. "He's a special player".

As Gabe Bein from Uproxx.com pointed out, "A superstar is someone who can have a team built around him... He's the MVP in my opinion".

This past weekend, seemingly the entire National Basketball Association media contingent was in attendance when he clinched a season triple-double in a lopsided loss against the lowly Suns, then as he went for a record-breaking 42 triple-double Sunday in Denver, reporters chronicled every bucket, rebound, assist, and missed shot from a teammate setup by a Westbrook pass. Despite the fact that James Harden and LeBron James had great seasons, Russell Westbrook is the 2016-17 NBA MVP.

Since the odds of that are long, it's good that while Denver's now in the middle of the Western Conference they're not stuck there.

Speaking of Westbrook, Harden got a little controversial after the game.

Harden's shooting in the postseason hasn't resembled his regular season form, either. The Thunder kept hitting open jump shots to take a 10 point lead 39-29 off the efforts of their bench. "I know I've done enough".

This has all the makings of a back and forth end to end game between two young squads.

Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon (10) dribbles the ball as OKC Thunder guard Alex Abrines (8) defends during the second quarter at Toyota Center.

The Rockets hardly seemed to miss them.

Harden had the Rockets' high-powered offense going strong in the opening half when he scored 21 points. Contributing to his impressive season averages, Westbrook went on a bunch of multi-game, high-scoring streaks. "There's a level of experience that you have to have".

If I needed any more support for naming Russ the Player of the Year, here's a "Drop-the-Mic" moment: The GOAT himself, Michael Jordan, told me he's backing Westbrook.

Labissiere has been playing very well recently, making six straight starts and averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.0 minutes per game in that span. But shortening the regular season inherently increases the importance and interest of each game.

Robertson said Thunder fans should be proud of Westbrook, the first player since Robertson to average a triple-double for a season. Hall of Fame G Oscar Robertson did it three times. Koufos played Sacramento's first 66 games but has sat out the past four and seven of the past 12.

Just over a month ago, the Clippers had dreams of grabbing the 3 seed from the Rockets.

The Kings now have a day off before their home season finale on Tuesday against the Suns.
