We were relatively impressed by the Honor 8 a year ago, giving it a respectable 3.5/5 score. But the phone was let down by its clunky EMUI software, unimpressive camera, and lack of value.

As some rumors pointed out, just a few seconds ago, the Honor 8 Pro, a review of that sensational smartphone released at the end of previous year, has just become official, conquering in record time the heart of some users eager for news.

Alternatively, if you'd rather read a quick, summarised version of this article, head to the bottom of the page. Here's our direct comparison, and don't miss our Honor 8 Pro review for our in-depth thoughts.

The most expensive Honor yet, the Honor 8 Plus, checks out at £475 and uses the same Kirin 960 chipset and 6GB/64GB combo used in the £679.99 flagships.

Huawei's wholly owned subsidiary Honor has launched pretty good phones so far. However, the 3D modeling feature available in the V9 that lets user 3D print their pictures, is not present in the Honor 8 Pro, and instead, a "fluid VR streaming" feature is brought in along with a stock Jaunt VR app that has dozens of pre-loaded videos coming with it.

Honor 8 Pro's ultra-thin 6.97mm metal body is a compact cluster of over 1,000 components, a ideal blend of functionality and aesthetics. Hardly a huge jump.

There's metal body with 6.97 mm of thickness. The Honor 6X is one of our recent favourites, although it's the Honor 8 that really showed off what Honor was capable of. It also includes 3GB of RAM and offers seamless multitasking.

The 8 Pro looks to be Honor's best phone yet. This is equally accurate and responsive on the Pro and the standard Honor 8. And the Honor 8 Pro can shoot up to 4K resolution footage, something not possible on the original Honor 8. So is the Honor 8 Pro a cheaper version of the Huawei P10 Plus, which was launched a month ago in Barcelona? That doesn't necessarily mean it's better, but big screens are becoming increasingly common, so the Honor 8 Pro is certainly on trend. The Honor 6C weighs 138g. But since only a few users of Honor devices will be considered, you might want to hurry up and get yourself enlisted to the program as early as possible. That Kirin 950 processor backed by 4GB of RAM is a solid mid-range combo, so apps load instantly and the latest games play with a super-smooth frame rate. Both phones benefit from a Micro SD card slot and USB Type C connectivity, mind. That's since fallen to £319, to reflect the fact that the handset is getting on a bit.

Unlike the Honor 8, the Pro model won't be launching in the US. Resolution has been upgraded from Full HD to Quad HD, so you can expect even more crisp images despite that size hike.

Honor 8 vs Honor 8 Pro Summary - What's the difference? You know, like Brooklyn Beckham (the company's brand ambassador). There is no information about the phone's availability in other regions. All the physical keys can be found on the right-hand side of the Honor 8 Pro, while its SIM card tray is placed on the left. The battery is also bigger, and the selfie camera has improved too.
