A luxury apartment block in Texas boasts a glass-bottomed rooftop pool, giving swimmers a dizzying view of the busy street 500 feet below.

The pool is located on the 40th floor, which is roughly 39 floors above where a glass bottom pool should be.

A video shared by the building's Instagram account appears to begin in a normal pool, looking down at two feet in the water.

The owners of Market Square Tower say it 'offers a living experience like nothing Houston has ever seen before'.

As swimmers and travelers enjoy the gut-wrenching view, they are protected by the 8-inch thick plexiglass.

Video of a swim in a new Houston pool is not for the faint of heart. Monthly rental prices range from $1,805 for a studio to $18, 715 for a penthouse, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The building also has a sky lounge, sky gym, poker suite, virtual golf, a movie theater, a basketball court, a billiards room and even a grand ballroom.
