Busy Aisha Tyler says goodbye to 'The Talk' after 6 years

"At the end of the season, I'm gonna be leaving the show".

Tyler was in tears when she made her announcement. She said working with co-hosts Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, #Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne is such a joy that it never feels like work to her.

Aisha Tyler announced on the air Thursday that her increasingly busy career prompted the decision.

She is passionate about directing. Throughout her six seasons, she has made incredible contributions and shared personal moments, making our viewers, cast and crew all laugh, cry and think, as a result of her signature wit, intelligence and openness.

Tyler has announced her departure from the show after six years as a co-host. She's recently been promoted from recurring character to series regular on the CBS drama Criminal Minds. The shooting schedule for The Talk is rather aggressive, shooting 11 months out of the years.

The 46-year-old television personality voices Lana Kane in the hit adult animated spy sitcom "Archer".

Aisha explained that she has always dreamed of directing.

The "biggest breakup of my life" is likely her recent divorce from longtime husband Jeff Tietjens, which she also discussed on The Talk.

Ahead of her announcement on the show, Tyler wrote about "change" on Twitter, possibly hinting about her exit. "Always.' She also added, '#squadgoalsforever" on the photo. She brokedown while telling the audience.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened", the tweet read. "This is my home, I'm going to come back to guest host, promote my movies here, I'm going to promote my shows here, I'm going to be haunting you". Watch "The Talk" on CBS at 2 p.m. each weekday.
