Donald Trump took to Twitter Friday to insist that despite months of investigating, no proof has emerged that he colluded with Russian Federation to tilt the 2016 presidential election in his favor.
Trump's tweets are the latest - and most direct - attacks on the leader of an investigation that he insists is unnecessary and distracting.
ABC said Rosenstein told Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand she would have authority over the probe if he were to step aside. He has already been subpoenaed by the House intelligence committee. "Nice", Trump wrote in his first tweet.
On Thursday, Trump blasted news reports that he is under criminal investigation as a "witch hunt" against him led by some "very bad" people.
President Donald Trump complained on social media about the wide-ranging investigation of Russian interference in the USA election as Robert Mueller appeared to widen his probe to include whether Trump tried to obstruct justice. The order also covers separate inquiries into several key Trump associates including former national security adviser Michael Flynn, campaign adviser Paul Manafort, foreign policy aide Carter Page and outside adviser Roger Stone. The official demanded anonymity because the official was not authorized to be named discussing the deliberations.
Vice President Mike Pence has also hired a private lawyer to represent his interests in the expanding probe.
That would amount to looking into Trump's actions on potential grounds of obstructing justice. Though some in the White House have preached caution, fearing a repeat of the firestorm over Comey's firing, many in Trump's orbit - including his son Donald Trump Jr. and adviser Newt Gingrich - have deemed Mueller biased and worthy of dismissal.
USA employers pulled back on hiring in May by adding only 138,000 jobs, though the gains were enough to help nudge the unemployment rate down to a 16 year-low. But it's part of the President's mindset that he's under siege and he's going to fight like he always has. "I can go around them", the tweet read.
Trump's twitter should be the next to lawyer up.
Not all of Trump's social media followers are supporters.
White House aides have been instructed to not talk about Russian Federation investigation, but that doesn't apply to the President.
President Donald Trump says it's "sad" that seven months of investigations and hearings into possible links between his campaign and Russian Federation have been fruitless.
Here's what he told Chris Wallace: "That tweet, Chris, was in response to the Washington Post story that alleged that five unnamed sources, anonymous sources, leaked to the Washington Post that the president was, in fact, under investigation".
Trump said that "nobody has been able to show any proof yet".
But no one has denied the substance of the Post story. He has questioned why investigators don't dig into the links between the Democrats and the Russian government, including his general election opponent, Hillary Clinton.
