Trump's comment tracked with Republican talking points about the hearing, where the Republican National Committee and White House urged surrogates to emphasize the fact that Comey clearly said the President was never an explicit subject of the Russian Federation probe during his time at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Comey felt President Trump was directing him to end the probe of retired Gen. Michael Flynn, the former national security advisor, even if Trump did not word his request as a direct order.
The president said Comey's testimony on Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee mostly vindicated his previous claims about their interactions.
"I'll tell you about that sometime in the very near future", Trump said.
Trump continued to be coy about the possibility of there being recordings of his conversations with Comey, which he has suggested previously. "You're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer".
"But yes, absolutely I'd be committed to Article 5", he said.
"I'm committing the United States and have committed, but I'm committing the United States to Article 5". Tillerson had called on the Arab nations to immediately ease their blockade on Qatar.
Trump officially took questions from reporters for the first time in three weeks, standing next to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Trump wrote.
He also seized on Comey's revelation that he had directed a friend to release contents of memos he'd written documenting his conversations with the president to a reporter.
Trump's private attorney, Marc Kasowitz, seized on Comey's admission that he had orchestrated the public release of the information.
