Ubisoft's Skull and Bones aims to be the ultimate pirate game

Ubisoft introduced a few new IPs at their E3 press conference, but one extremely exciting one is the pirate based action game Skull & Bones. The initial footage is very enticing, and the title is reuniting several members of the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag team.

In fact, Ubisoft actually carved off the naval section of the game and have basically focused Skull & Bones around that system. Skull & Bones is due out next year during the fall of 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

If the game follows the tone of this trailer, then it won't have the sometimes comedic tone of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Controlling pirate ships loaded with its unique arsenal you will play solo or with a team of friends. Skull & Bones features both PvE and PvP combat.

Ubisoft have unveiled Skull and Bones, a brand-new online multiplayer game that sends players to the golden age of piracy during the 17th Century. However, these rich and idyllic waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs are fiercely competing for their share of these valuable treasures.

Here are two more videos of Skull and Bones: a gameplay walkthrough and the cinematic trailer I mentioned above. The wind and the ocean currents will be both an asset and a curse. Gamers will also be able to build their own fleet of ships, which can specialize in different battle conditions using the game's extensive customization options.
