For all assessees whose name given in the Aadhaar card and PAN card are identical, a simple SMS-based facility is provided to achieve the linking.

The I-T department has made it clear that taxpayers without Aadhaar number or its enrolment ID will not be able to e-file their income tax return (ITR) f even as it has said that in "no case" any PAN will be invalidated.

The government quoted that Aadhaar ID is a must at the time of application of PAN.
