We're only a couple of days away from the wide release of Spider-Man: Homecoming! In 1999 Sony (Columbia) pictures secured the rights and made the hugely successful Maguire/Raimi trilogy, however the narrative of the third movie was widely considered to be a disappointment.
The addition of the Avengers changes the trajectory of this current Spider-Man reboot.
This created an opportunity for Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). "This original 22-movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2019 and then two months later it will be Peter and Spider-Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there".
For now, we've got Homecoming to look forward to and Spidey's part in Infinity War and Avengers 4, and then hopefully we'll see if Sony and Marvel can map out even more movies. However, Spider-Man: Homecoming introduces Peter Parker after he fought with Tony Stark in the clash between Iron Man and Captain America in Captain America: Civil War.
Spider-Man: Homecoming co-stars Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Jon Favreau, Michael Keaton, Garcelle Beauvais, Angourie Rice, Zendaya, Hannibal Buress and Bokeem Woodbine. "If you actually had a Spider-Man who could do all of this stuff, you know, you would shoot it with actual equipment". After three films, Maguire bowed out, and in 2012, The Amazing Spider-Man relaunched the Spidey franchise with James Garfield in the titular role.
