One lucky person who purchased a Mega Millions lottery ticket from Nick's Barbecue in Palos Heights has won an estimated $393 million. The victor will get $247 million in cash once the person shows up and contacts them to claim the prize money.
This is the fourth Mega Millions jackpot victor this year.
The Mega Millions and Powerball are at their highest combined point in history, totally $749 million. Meanwhile the Powerball jackpot also keeps climbing for Saturday night's drawing. Played in 44 states, including the Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia, Mega Millions tickets were sold for $1.
That's a cash value of $224 million if you take the lump sum. It had been rolling since it was last won on April 28, when David Trapp won a $61 million prize in California. These include two of the largest jackpots - $336 million in 2009 and $330 million in 2007.
The odds of winning either game are extreme - one in 292 million for Powerball, and one in 259 million for Mega Millions. It stands at $356 million after no one had the winning numbers Wednesday night.
