Auto slams into ground after seven storey tumble from parking garage

A video of the incident, which occurred on July 13, was released on Friday by Austin police and shows just how close Burch came to being squashed.

In a scene reminiscent of a Hollywood blockbuster, a woman's auto dramatically fell seven stories out of a Texas parking lot and smashed into the pavement, with the driver trapped inside.

In the video, a Chevrolet Tahoe is seen trying to turn around in the alley. Out of nowhere, a BMW falls into frame, hitting the ground and bouncing against the Tahoe.

A woman inside the BMW 4 Series vehicle was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

Last month, the garage was cited by officials for having unsafe barrier cable systems, according to ABC7. "So I just immediately just put it in drive and started driving forward and as I started driving forward, the auto landed on me".

A similar accident occurred at the same garage September 9, 2016 when a 24-year-old man crashed through the barriers on the top level.

Bizarrely, this is the second time in less than a year that a vehicle has fallen off the edge of the same parking garage. A bystander helped the 24-year-old driver escape. The garage is now looking at redesigning its entire cable system.
