Girls Charged After Video Shows Them Putting Baby In Refrigerator

Massachusetts babysitters charged for putting baby in fridge

Two schoolgirls arrested after 'shutting screaming baby in FRIDGE for sick Snapchat video while babysitting'

The two girls face a number of charges including child endangerment, child negligence, assault and battery with a unsafe weapon.

Video presented on Snapchat demonstrates the young ladies chuckling as one of them puts the crying infant in the fridge before she shuts the entryway totally and says "bye". "I don't want anyone near my child anymore", the child's mother, who was identified as Bonnie.

Two babysitters who recorded themselves putting a baby in a refrigerator were arrested and charged with child endangerment, police said. They removed the child soon after.

The mother of the 8-month-old told WBZ-TV that her 15-year-old niece and her 14-year-old friend watched the child for a half an hour while she showered.

Danvers police told Boston 25 News that they learned about the disturbing video from neighboring Swampscott police on Monday night. She didn't - I know she wouldn't hurt my daughter, and that wasn't her intentions.

In a second video, the girls can be heard laughing before one of them opens the refrigerator door to reveal the screaming baby inside. "I think it was all foolishness, stupidity", the baby's mother said.

The pair appeared in juvenile court in Salem and were released into the custody of their parents.

Police are continuing their investigation along with the Essex County District Attorney's Office and the Department of Children and Families. The mother says her niece is no longer allowed to babysit or be around her daughter.
