Showing signs of unity top leaders from opposition parties shared a stage during "BJP Bhagao Desh Bachao rally" organised by RJD in Patna on Sunday. The leader, who is staring at an expulsion from the JD (U) for defying orders to skip the rally, was greeted warmly by Lalu Yadav with an embrace on the dais.
The party said Yadav has "voluntarily" given up JD (U) membership by attending the rally organised by Lalu Prasad's RJD.
"This was also a mandate against the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi", he was quoted s saying by PTI. He said, "Earlier it was rally of the RJD, but now it has become a rally of Mahagatbandhan (grand alliance) to save the country". "People were cheated. I am sure and certain that i will form a Grand Alliance in the country".
"Mahagathbandhan was given a five-year mandate by the people of Bihar based on its policies, principles and the cumulative leadership that we presented. He is also an accused in Srijan scam", he alleged.
The JD (U) had replaced Yadav with a Nitish Kumar confidante R C P Singh as its leader in the Rajya Sabha a few days ago.
"Laluji is the only political force in Bihar that can challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party and counter it", said Shakti.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be travelling to Oslo on the invitation of the Norwegian foreign ministry, as a result of which he will not be able to attend the two opposition rallies in Bihar and Gujarat. I had wished to attend this rally but could not, thanks to an official trip to Norway. "I convey my best wishes to all those taking part in the rally", he said.
