Jagan was upset over YSRCP MLA from Nandyal, Bhuma Nagi Reddy's defecting to TDP last February.
"As per conservative estimate, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spent around Rs 200 crore in this by-poll", the Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly said.
While TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmanand Reddy polled 97,066 votes, his YSR Congress counterpart - Silpa Mohan Reddy - managed just 69,610.
As per reports from Nandyala, TDP secured 46,563 votes, YSRCP 29,129 votes and Congress got 372 votes. After all the rounds of the counting process, the Nandyal Bypoll election results will be out soon. The move proved to be right for the TDP as he won by a huge margin.
Nandyal By Elections were held on 23rd August. In the first round TDP was leading by 1,198. Political analysts feel that the Nandyal By- Elections results 2017 will reflect in the results of 2019 general elections.
Right from the commencement of counting this morning, the TDP candidate maintained a lead in every round, except the 16th round, where it lagged behind a bit. The TDP, in a bid to win sympathy votes, fielded Bhuma Reddy's nephew Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy at the Nandyal seat. Also, it seems that almost 200 people have opted NOTA option. When asked to comment on the results of the Nandyal bypoll, Naidu said the people had once again shown confidence in his promise of development, public welfare and good governance.
