National Football League suspends Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott after domestic violence investigation

On Friday, Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott was suspended 6 games for violating the personal conduct policy, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The suspension results from an incident more than a year ago in which an ex-girlfriend of Elliott's accused him of domestic violence in Columbus, Ohio.

During an NFL conference call Friday, NFL officials said the league considered both Thompson's allegations and a separate March 2017 incident in which Elliott pulled down a woman's shirt at Dallas' St. Patrick's Day parade in their investigation.

The Dallas Cowboys megastar has been suspended six games by the National Football League for violating the personal conduct policy.

Elliott's absence should hurt Dallas through their first six games. "League investigators examined all available evidence, including photographic and digital evidence, thousands of text messages and other records of electronic communications". Elliott and the Cowboys now have three business days to file an appeal, and a hearing on that appeal must be held within 10 days of the notice of appeal.

Elliott was seen in a legal marijuana shop during the preseason in Seattle previous year and was caught on video pulling down a woman's shirt during a St. Patrick's Day parade in Dallas this past spring.

The NFL's press release regarding Elliott's suspension states that league advisors "were of the view that there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that [Elliott] engaged in physical violence.on multiple occasions".

By virtue of their appearance in the Hall of Fame game, the Cowboys still have four preseason games to get their backs acclimated before the start of the season. He had 1,631 yards to go with 15 rushing touchdowns. He accounted for more than 33 percent of the Cowboys' total yards in his rookie season.

In the past, Elliott, the 22-year-old running back has found himself in minor trouble.
