The incident happened on September 9 but was reported to police on September 13, following which a case was registered and the woman was arrested.

Kalra, who received major backlash on social media for assaulting a soldier, was produced in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen, who granted her bail, Additional DCP (South), Chinmoy Biswal was quoted by Deccan Chronicle as saying.

"I respect army people, it was a misunderstanding due to which this incident took place", she added.

The woman's behavior has provoked angry responses from fellow Indians on social media. After a junior commissioned officer filed an FIR, police had taken in 44-year-old Smriti Kalra from her home in Gurgaon.

In his complaint, the army subedar alleged that the vehicle was being driven ahead of them by Kalra in a zig-zag manner. He tried to ask her about their fault but she kept abusing them. The Army group claimed that she similarly held him by his collar and slapped him too.

Initially, it had appeared a case of road rage as her auto was seen parked just in front of the Army truck.

As per reports, Kalra was married to an Army officer's son in 1995 but later divorced in 2008 over marital discords.

Kalra got off from her vehicle and continued to hurl abuses. She apparently blamed the constable for being an Army personnel after which he came back to the truck and sat at the driver's seat. However, the subedar had asked his colleagues to record a video of the incident which was submitted to the police station on September 13. She is living with her parents in Gurugram.
