As previously reported, North Korea may conduct a powerful test of a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific ocean.

In China, experts said North Korea has resolved to continue develop its nuclear and missile program - at least until it can put a nuclear warhead on a missile capable of reaching the United States - despite whatever external pressure was applied.

The announcement comes a day after North Korea warned of another hydrogen bomb test in response to President Donald Trump's threats of military action.

Rex Tillerson didn't directly say how the USA might address a hydrogen bomb test in the Pacific. On Friday, Trump said that North Korean leader "is obviously a madman who doesn't mind starving or killing his people" and promised to "test" him.

It said that it was thought to be an artificial quake caused by a "suspected explosion", Yonhap reports. North Korea joined the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty in the mid-1980s but it "cheated" and was never held accountable, he said.

"Together with Donald, we've been successfully demonstrating our strong will to exercise pressure against North Korea, and that actually led to the unification of the worldwide community to address this challenge", he said.

The ban on textiles trade will hurt Pyongyang's income, while China's oil exports are the country's main source of petroleum products.

The European Union has also reportedly agreed to impose tougher sanctions on Pyongyang, in addition to the latest round recently imposed by the U.N. Security Council. "Unless the DPRK believes that the benefits from trade with the global community are greater than the current security benefits of prioritizing its military-first economy, North Korea will have little incentive to change its policy".

If it is confirmed as a nuclear test, it would be the North Korean regime's seventh.

While addressing UN General Assembly, President Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea if forced to do so in defence of the U.S. or its allies. It is the ninth time that the United Nations sanctions the country.

Another Korea Meteorological Administration official, who also didn't want to be named, said the agency saw the possibility of the natural disaster being caused by a tunnel collapse as low.

An natural disaster located near a North Korea nuclear test site may be an indication of another nuclear detonation.

China, the closest ally of North Korea, accounts for about 90 per cent of Pyongyang's foreign trade.

"This mission is a demonstration of United States resolve and a clear message that the president has many military options to defeat any threat", Ms White said. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi acknowledged that the United Nations resolution would affect the country's economic interests, but promised that China is prepared "to pay most of the price" for it.
