Andy Cohen to replace Kathy Griffin on CNN New Year's Eve

Cooper said in a statement.

Cooper and Cohen have been friends for years, with Cooper appearing on WWHL after Griffin was sacked from CNN's New Year's Eve special. Noting that he's known Cooper for 25 years, Cohen has publicly announced his excitement to co-host the New Year's Eve special with him.

Griffin had previously hosted the live event in Times Square, but had her contract nulled in May after doing a photoshoot with a decapitated Donald Trump head. "We've travelled the world together and performed in 30 plus cities with "AC2" and it's all led to this one huge night!"

Now in its 11th year, CNN's New Year's Eve show is a global celebration featuring contributions from CNN correspondents across the country and around the world.

In an interview with The Cut, Griffin said, "Why are people still expecting me to apologize and grovel to a man that tweets like this?" Additionally, Cohen shared the news of his position during the New Years Eve broadcast on social media.

Due to their friendship, Cohen and Cooper have frequently appeared on each other's program. Both Cohen and Cooper have also served as frequent guest co-hosts on fellow friend and media personality Kelly Ripa's morning show, particularly before Ryan Seacrest was named her permanent co-host.
