The live action remake is now due to release in July 2019. We're fuming too - it was already well known that Donald Glover, known for appearing in the likes of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Community" was going to play Simba, and James Earl Jones was reprising his role of Mufasa.

Beyoncé, yes, Beyoncé, posted a picture of the full cast on her Facebook page, confirming a couple of rumors, as well as confirming herself as fucking Nala opposite Donald Glover's Simba. JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph will play Young Simba and Nala.

Other stars who have signed up for the film include Seth Rogen as Pumba the warthog and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.

Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba and Keegan Michael-Key will voice the hyenas Azizi, Shenzi and Kamari, with John Oliver as the hornbill Zazu.

"The Lion King", which is set for a July 2019 release, is the latest Disney classic to get a live action reboot.

How is the Lion King being remade?

Regardless of whether or not you're into live-action remakes, there's no denying the upcoming soundtrack will be FIRE.

An official synopsis teased that the remake will "utilise pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way".

Virtual reality tech used in the recent live action remake The Jungle Book will be used again to make The Lion King but to a greater extent.
