Chevy Corvette ZR1 Unveiled in Dubai With 755 HP

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 leaked on magazine cover

First Look: With the new 2019 Corvette ZR1, Chevy builds the best 'Vette yet

"I've never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there's never been one like this before".

The previous-generation 'Vette ZR1 debuted in 2009 and was produced until 2013.

That's because the ZR1 comes with an exclusive 6.2-liter supercharged V8 LT5 engine good for a meaty 755 horsepower (563 kilowatts) at 6,300 rpm and a rocket-ship 715 pound-feet (969 Newton-meters) of maximum torque at 4,400 rpm. To help with the extra boost, Chevy built a dual-fuel-injection system, which utilises direct injection for most of the heavy lifting, but supplements with extra port injectors when needed.

To get all the horsepower to the wheels an electronic-differential is present and correct, while ZR1 Fans can opt for a eight-speed automatic transmission or a rev-matching seven-speed manual gearbox. The nose of the ZR1, meanwhile, has been heavily redesigned to provide additional airflow for the engine and cooling systems. A special carbon-fiber "halo" hood is open in the middle to clear the LT5 engine's supercharger/intercooler assembly.

Chevy claims that after benchmarking a few sports cars with active wings, they came to the conclusion that those serve more of an aesthetic goal than anything else, creating the least drag and the most downforce at their fully extended form. Also optional is the high wing, which increases downforce by an estimated 431kg.

Both of the ZR1's wings are tied into the chassis, like the Corvette Racing C7.R racecar, for strength and stability.

"As the highest-performing Corvette ever, the ZR1's design supports its capability in every way", said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager in a statement. It is known that the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has a top speed of 338 km/h Model is available with two versions of wing: Low Wing and High Wing.

The "high wing" package adds a corresponding GT3-style rear wing, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, a re-calibrated suspension tuning and magnetic ride control dampers.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 in the photos is decorated with the Sebring Orange Design Package.

There are two different aero kits which can be fitted to the ZR1. Additionally, Chevy had developed a new a Sebring Orange paint scheme with orange calipers to cover the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Even the cabin gets orange and bronze accents that highlight the performance bit.

GM hasn't put a price tag on the 2019 Corvette ZR1, but will go on sale in the Spring.
