Cleveland police were searching on Saturday for suspects in a shooting that wounded five teenagers and killed a 12-year-old boy who had stepped outside his father's store at the sound of gunfire, police and media reports said.

Around 7:30 p.m., a group of teens were walking on the sidewalk on Buckeye Road, near East 116th Street. The teens were outside when they saw three to four men pull out handguns and begin firing.

The slain 12-year-old boy has been identified as Abdel Latif Bashiti. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An additional 16-year-old kid and a 14-year-old kid were shot in the leg.

The teens were transported to University Hospital.

Police Chief Calvin Williams says it's believed the shooters also are juveniles.

The Cleveland Police Department is asking individuals who were in the zone at the season of Friday night's shooting to contact examiners at 216-623-5464 or Crime Stoppers at 216-25-CRIME.

The shooting happened about 8:45 p.m. outside a house on the 13200 block of Crennell Avenue, just a few blocks north of Harvard Avenue in the city's Union-Miles neighborhood, Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said.
