Miami-South Florida has been announced as the site for the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship, it was announced today by the College Football Playoff.
A fan fest and themed music, food and tailgating festivities will be part of a four-day event that will begin Friday, January 7, leading up to the national championship game in Lucas Oil Stadium Monday, January 10.
College Football Playoff made a surprise call inviting the city to host the 2022 game and four days of events and festivities. "We were serious about that, and now we've done it".
The new stadium, which is under construction in Ingelwood, Calif., will be the home of the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers.
Vaughn says the invitation to host college football's biggest event prompted business, political and community leaders to leap into action.
"Of course, South Florida is a great destination, and the people from the Orange Bowl Committee have always been cordial and welcoming hosts", Hancock said in a statement.
"I'm confident this event will be much more than a game for our city", Hogsett said.
And in 2024, college football's biggest game will be making its way back to the Lone Star State.
This will be the first time the College Football Playoff National Championship is played in the Los Angeles region. Atlanta, Santa Clara and New Orleans were already locked in for the next three title games. The Los Angeles Host Committee will be responsible for hosting the event and will work closely with the CFP to deliver the most successful national championship game to date on January 9, 2023. "Each has a first-class stadium that our fans will enjoy, a great convention center, excellent hotels for teams and fans, and the communities have successful track records of hosting major events".
