NSFW I, Tonya trailer flips off biopic tradition

Four years later and it looks like the star of About Time and Suicide Squad has landed her best role to date.

Neon has released a new red band trailer for I, Tonya, the Tonya Harding biopic.

Based on unbelievable but true events, the film is a darkly comedic tale of American figure skater, Tonya and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history.

The *red band* trailer offers a look into Tonya's hard childhood, in which her mother LaVona Golden (Allison Janney) pushed her to her limits, and often went too far - she was very critical and, years later, we even see LaVona throw a knife at Tonya. "The haters always say 'Tonya, tell the truth.' There's no such thing as truth", the voiceover continues. Harding's involvement would eventually lead to her being stripped of her 1994 national title and banned for life from the figure skating world.

Robbie stars as disgraced Olympic figure skater Harding, who became a household name after her ex-husband and bodyguard orchestrated a physical attack on her main competitor, Nancy Kerrigan.

Margot also revealed that four months of intense training, five days a week she told the publication that she missed it. We are so, so intrigued, and can't wait to see I, Tonya when it triple axels into theaters on December 8th.

Walking the guantlet: Media attention around the attack reached global proportions when Tonya was linked to the attack.
