One woman, Leigh Corfman, said she was 14 in 1979 when Moore, then 32, undressed her, groped her and had her touch him, though they did not have intercourse. He offers to watch over the girl while her mother goes into a child custody hearing.
Debbie Wesson Gibson says she was 17 when Moore spoke to her high school class, when he was assistant district attorney, and when he would have been 34, or twice her age.
Pollak said, "We can all agree that anybody who commits sexual misconduct in the workplace has no business running for public office".
Corfman said Moore asked the girl for her phone number while her mother was gone, and then later called her to set up a meeting.
UPDATE: Senators Susan Collins, Mike Lee, and Steve Daines are also distancing themselves from Moore and calling on him to step down "if the allegations are true". She remembers Moore disappearing into another room and coming out with nothing on but "tight white" underwear. On a second visit, he took off her shirt and trousers and removed his clothes except for his underwear before touching her over her bra and underpants, Corfman told the Post. He later called the 14-year-old and drove her to his house, where according to the report, removed her clothes and touched her through her bra and underwear. Bennett says In such a scenario, even if Moore earned more votes than the Democrat, the state canvassing board would declare the Democrat the victor.
Gloria Thacker Deason told The Post that "she was an 18-year-old cheerleader when Moore began taking her on dates that included bottles of Mateus Rosé wine".
He added, "I would point out what's interesting in The Washington Post article is that they say 'teenagers, ' in fact, you repeated that start of this segment".
Some of what Moore is accused of would have been illegal under Alabama law. It is a misdemeanor offense for an adult 19 or older to have sexual contact with a minor ages 12 to 16. Sexual contact with a minor in Alabama is considered misdemeanor sexual abuse, and luring a minor into a home for the goal of initiating sexual contact, which may also apply in this situation, is a felony.
Roy Moore, the Republican nominee for Jeff Sessions' U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, has been socked with accusations from women who say that he made overtures on them - and that in two cases, they say progressed to kissing or sexual contact - when they were underage.
Wendy Miller says she was 14 and working as a Santa's helper at the Gadsden Mall when Moore first approached her, and 16 when he asked her on dates, which her mother forbade. By her account, Moore kissed her on a first date. "The legal drinking age in Alabama was 19". Luther Strange. Moore won the primary.
The website describes the Post's report as "targeting" Moore. The statue of limitations for bringing felony charges against Moore would have passed in the early 1980s, while civil action against him would have expired after Corfman turned 21. The women say he did not initiate sex and are troubled by the encounters.
Polls had already shown a close race between the Republican and Democrat Doug Jones, in part because Mr Moore, who rails against Muslims and homosexuals, has alienated many moderate conservatives in the state.
Zeigler then compared Moore's alleged actions to those of biblical figures.
