The second big announcement was the inclusion of an expansion pass. Nintendo hasn't revealed the price for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 expansion pass quite yet, but in the past, they've always been $19.99. Oh, and in true New-Nintendo fashion, it's also getting an "expansion pass". It turns out there will be a free dual audio DLC and a paid expansion pack with five add-ons released for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and one free quest for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Although it wasn't explicitly mentioned, this DLC side quest will be available as a free download or an in-game update.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 comes out on December 1 for the Nintendo Switch and is now available for pre-order.
The Direct discussed details of Blades, which are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers like Xenoblade Chronicles 2's main character, Rex. Blades have a wide array of support abilities that can affect the number of items that can be collected, open up new paths to explore or initiate other special effects. These humanoid weapons boost Drivers' power in battles in many different ways, depending on the Blades' unique abilities. Well ahead of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's early December launch date, the DLC should be available to all on November 9, 2017. As expected, we received new details about the game's story, along with introductions to a lengthy roster of characters. Hopefully, as a December release, it can make waves late in the year and give Switch owners a new big RPG to sink their teeth into. Players who prefer the digital version can pre-purchase the game from Nintendo eShop now, either standalone or as a bundle with the Expansion Pass.
