Google launches Android Go: A basic version of their Android Oreo OS for entry-level devices

This effort has also been accompanied by the development of apps like YouTube Go and Android Go. Androin Go is a repackaged version of Android One, which is for premium devices. The goal is to reach out to a larger user base and share the recent Android experience even with those who use entry-level devices. Google claims it to be a powerful experience for entry-level smartphones, which offers the best of Android, built with new and reimagined apps.

In its testing of Files Go, Google found that the average user is saving 1GB of space in the first month.

These basic devices often come very little storage space left once you account for the size of the OS and the preinstalled apps.

The Android Oreo version also boasts the same security features as all others, with in addition Google Play Protect built-in. Now, the latest version of this Android has been shipped by Google in the form of "Android Oreo (Go Edition)". A clutch of data and storage-friendly free Go apps will also be available on the Google Play store to complement Android Go.

Launching another India first product, Two-Wheeler Mode in Google Maps, Martha Welsh, Director Google Maps said, "India is the world's largest two-wheeler market and the navigation needs of these millions of riders are different from automobile drivers". And now, the company has launched the Google Assistant for feature phones.

Google introduced its new Datally app, which helps monitor and save mobile data. Sadly, existing budget devices won't be able to enjoy the Oreo Go, unless OEMs figure out some way to seed the new OS on old devices. every new version of Android will feature a Go version, with the possibility of faster update rollout in the future. The new Files Go app is created to help one quickly find files and get rid of any unwanted content.

The Google Assistant for JioPhone will be available in English and Hindi, the company announced during an event here.
