Samsung announces upgraded Notebook 9 with S Pen

Ahead of CES 2018 where we usually see these laptops, Samsung has announced its refreshed the Notebook 9 series of convertibles with spec bumps in almost every area. As far as the specs are concerned, there is a 13.3-inch Samsung RealViewTouch FHD display and powering the device is an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor which is paired with up to 16GB RAM as well as up to 512GB storage space. The processor are made of an alloy called Metal12 which is lighter than aluminum. On the other hand, the 15 Inch variant offers Thunderbolt 3 option with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics which make it a bit more expensive variant. The battery also supports fast charging and the Notebook 9 (2018) measures 15.4mm, which makes it one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks in its segment.

Interestingly, you can convert this laptop into Tablet as it is connected with a 360 Degree hinge. As for the Notebook 9 S Pen, the device has the IR and facial scanning technology. When the S Pen is removed from the notebook, Air Command automatically launches providing convenient S Pen shortcuts, Samsung Notes and Autodesk Sketchbook, so that users can write, draw and create immediately. Both the Notebook 9 (2018) and Notebook 9 Pen come with Windows Hello built-in for secure authentication through the fingerprint sensor without having to type in a password.

At first glance, the 2018 Samsung Notebook 9 lineup appears to be similar to the previous versions.

The Pen model has the fewest ports of the line-up, including one USB-C port, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, and a microSD port. The 13-inch offers the same ports as the S Pen model except it features one extra USB 3.0 port. On the decidedly bright side, they can accommodate up to 1TB data on solid-state drives, also packing Samsung's "largest and most powerful battery placed inside a notebook", at 75Wh capacity. This should be expected, as the South Korean tech giant might be preserving the Notebook 9's signature design.

It features a 13.3-inch Full HD display and is driven by Intel Core i7 processor (8 gen), Intel HD graphics and up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

Coming to the specifications, the 13.3-inch and 15-inch models bears a Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Connectivity options include an HDMI port, a single USB Type-C port, and a regular USB port, alongside microSD storage. This model has a smaller 45W DC-in adapter and the same 720p Windows Hello front camera.
