Fire breaks out on roof of Trump Tower

Secret Service agents spotted smoke on the rooftop of President Donald Trump's New York City home early Monday morning and called the fire department, according to fire officials.

Trump Tower is located in Midtown Manhattan, and was completed in 1983.

About 84 firefighters were at the scene initially. They remained on the roof of the tower even one hour after dousing the fire. The president was in Washington DC at the time.

Firefighters have contained an electrical fire that broke out on the roof of Trump Tower Monday.

While Trump and the First Family now live in the White House, he maintains a palatial apartment in the 58-story tower.

Trump Tower was also the setting for the developer-turned-president's reality TV show, The Apprentice, and the headquarters of his presidential campaign.

There was no immediate report of injuries, or what caused the incident.

'The men and women of the #FDNY are true heros and deserve our most honest thanks and praise!' The fire had erupted at Mojo's Bistro and later spread to 1 Above restaurant where most bodies were found piled up in a toilet.
