A 32-year-old resident of West Bengal has reportedly harassed Sachin Tendulkar's daughter, Sara. "He was allegedly disturbing and harassing Tendulkar's daughter over phone", Mahisadal police station officer-incharge Partha Biswas told IANS.

The man is said to have made about 20 calls to Tendulkar's Bandra residence, threatening to kidnap her and even proposing marriage. A joint team of Mumbai police and our personnel arrested Debkumar Maity on Sunday morning. He hails from Mahishadal in East Midnapore, West Bengal. A team of policemen from Mumbai raided Maity's house on Saturday night and picked him up. He will be taken to Mumbai.

However, police said he saw Sara on Television and arranged the landline number of Tendulkar.

Debkumar, a class XII dropout, is known as an artist in the area.

According to the police, Maity, a Class XII dropout, is said to be mentally unstable and now unemployed. "Due to the loss of mental balance, he had done such an act", Rajkumar said.

Mitti would tell the cricketer's domestic help who attended the calls that he would kidnap the young woman and marry her, he said.

Few months ago Sachin Tendulkar had raised a red flag on the fake accounts of his children on Twitter. Admitting that he had made several calls, Debkumar argued that there was nothing wrong in his desire to marry Sara.
