Carey will perform again Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve", hosted by Ryan Seacrest, after a bungled performance last year in which she stumbled through her short set, failing to sing for most of it despite a pre-recorded track of her songs playing in the background.
Watch below at around the 2.30 mark for hot-tea gate.
"They told me there would be tea", Carey explained to the crowd, who braved arctic tempertures that plunged into the single digits in New York's Times Square. "Oh, it's a disaster". "We're going to try to do this right for you because I just want to show my appreciation for everyone that speaks out for justice and tries to make the world a better place". "I'm gonna be like everybody else with no hot tea". "We can all agree that a year ago didn't go exactly as planned", Carey admitted in a joint statement with Dick Clark Productions when her performance was announced on December 28. "We didn't have a sound check for this New Year's baby, it is what it is.Get these monitors on please", she said.
No one dropped the ball when Mariah Carey took the stage in Time Square this time around!
Fans saw her performance as a redemption from last year's show, tarnished by technical difficulties when equipment malfunctioned during Carey's performance of her 1991 hit "Emotions".
Mariah then only managed to sing three words before giving up and saying: 'Let the audience sing'. Looks like the year's officially off to a good start. The coldest was in 1907 when temperatures with wind chill felt like -18.
