That's because Razer imagines that, with Project Linda, your Android phone will serve as a hybrid smart touchpad and secondary display. While docked the Razer Phone display becomes the touch pad for interacting with the laptop or can be used as a second screen for various apps and software tools. The joining of the two turns the laptop chassis into an Android powered device running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 8GB of RAM.
Gaming accessories company Razer has created a laptop extension that, when coupled with a Razer Phone, creates a working, LED lit Android laptop.
"Project Linda combines the best of both worlds", said Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan, "bringing a larger screen and physical keyboard to the Android environment, enhancing the experience for gaming and productivity". Although it's true that the four Project Lindas Razer had on hand in its suite this year are indeed prototypes, they were all functioning, at least to an extent. The Razer Phone acts as a touchpad once docked, and the keyboard is, of course, backlit with Razer Chroma LED lighting.
As CES 2018 kicks off into full gear, Razer has revealed their Project Linda concept which aims to bring their gaming lap tops and phones together for the ultimate portable game experience. The laptop shell does contain a big battery that can charge the phone 3-4 times, as well as 200GB of internal storage.
This year's concept piece is called Project Linda (the company insists its code-names all have significant meaning, but won't say exactly what that is).
Razer's 'Project Linda' turns your phone into a gorgeous laptop
I for one can't help but feel like this project is a bit of extra justification for the Razor phone's shortcomings and existence.
An HDR-10 enabled display and Dobly-optimized speakers are only a small part of what the Razer Phone can do.
Those who already have their Razer Phones will receive an over-the-air update later this month to give them firmware improvements and such, as well as the app itself if you didn't have it yet.
