California woman reported missing found on 'The Bachelor'

Humboldt County Sheriff's spokeswoman Samantha Karges said it was a "bit frustrating" that someone was on the list but hadn't really been missing.

A missing persons case may have been solved, but the whereabouts of the "lost" woman have many scratching their heads.

On Facebook this week, local newspaper North Coast Journal included an image of Ms Martinez in their list of 35 missing persons. Martinez's mom told deputies that she had last talked to her daughter on November 12.

Bekah Martinez, a 22-year-old whose charismatic personality has seen her become a firm viewers' favourite, was reported missing after her mother failed to contact her daughter for almost a week in November last year.

Eagle-eyed social media users were quick to notice that one of the missing women looked very similar to the Bachelor contestant, and the publication reportedly reached out to Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.

It appears Bekah Martinez, the youngest contestant on season 22 of ABC's The Bachelor, may have dropped the ball there.

Martinez is known as a free spirit on The Bachelor and she has joked about her missing persons report online. One of the individuals was identified as Martinez, who has become nationally-known for her role on the hit United States reality TV series.

The 22-year-old has since responded on Twitter. After the story was posted, a reader noticed that one of the missing persons, Rebekah Helena Martinez, appeared to be the same Bekah M. who is now competing for the love of a 36-year-old race-car driver on TV. Later that day, the deputy and Martinez were finally able to speak, and she confirmed she was not in fact missing and was doing well.

The Bachelor began filming in September and it is likely that it would have continued through to December - meaning that Martinez would have been filming at the time she was reported as missing. "Her mother hadn't heard from her since November 12, 2017", Karges said.

After discovering that she was reported missing, Martinez shared a post on her Instagram page, with a photo of herself on the side of a milk carton with the caption, "MISSING". "How many times do I have to tell you I don't get cell service on The Bachelor??". She has regularly posted since then.
