Though it affects consumers primarily, US investigators think the company may have also mislead investors about the performance of its older flagships.

The US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating Apple about its updates that slowed performance on iPhones with older batteries. In December, Apple apologized for the slowdown after a blogger's tests revealed the secretive practice.

However, Apple seems to be coming with a solution for this problem, the upcoming iOS 11.3 update will allow users to utilise their Face ID in Ask to Buy instead of entering the password every time.

Users first discovered that Apple was doing something to deliberately slow down older phones when their clunky iPhone started performing better, or like new, when they put in a new battery.

Apple said the update was meant to help prevent iPhones with older batteries from shutting down unexpectedly. FNY Managed Accounts LLC increased its holdings in Apple by 852.4% during the second quarter.

iOS 11.3 is shaping up to be a major update from Apple, with the firm planning to release iMessages in iCloud and a new feature that sends your location to emergency services when you call them.

Apple says the reason for the software feature is to prevent unexpected iPhone shutdowns, not to encourage users to update to a newer iPhone. We also announced that we began developing a new iOS feature to show battery health and which would recommend when the user should consider replacing their battery. "The consumers, on an average, are probably on their third or fourth iPhone and are willing to pay for the Apple ecosystem which is much stronger in the United States than, for example, in China", said Research Director Neil Shah.

The land could see Wistron expanding its assembly operations to also cater to clients other than Apple, industry officials said. Many consumers, however, remain convinced that the company torpedoed the older iPhones to prod them to upgrade to the latest - and more expensive - models released in last fall.

In other Apple news, insider Daniel J. Riccio sold 15,641 shares of the company's stock in a transaction that occurred on Tuesday, November 14th.
