Nokia brings back banana phone

At the MWC 2018 event, Nokia is back with a series of new smartphones and refresh models, namely the Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018 edition), the Nokia 7 Plus and the Nokia 8 Sirocco curved and bezel-less smartphone.

HMD Global, the company that now makes Nokia -branded phones, launched a slew of smartphones on Sunday, including a high-end offering to compete with giants Apple and Samsung.

If there is one name in the world of mobile phones, Indians connect the most with, it has to be Nokia. The phone is also reportedly going to have the Nokia OZO 360 degree spatial audio technology. It also includes a 16MP front-facing camera along with an f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 3GB/4GB RAM.

With the launch of the new Nokia 6, HMD Global confirmed that it was joining the Android One programme, guaranteeing pure Android with no bundled apps, services or bloatware - just Google's Android apps. The Nokia 1 will be available in Warm Red and Dark Blue. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and a 3,800mAh battery which Nokia claims is good for 2 days of mixed use. A 3.5mm headphone jack is not available here, you'll need to use a dongle in order to plug your headphones in.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco release date is set for April 2018, which is a little way off and will see others beat the phone to market, which could be a bit of a blow to its potential success. The Nokia 1 is created to provide flexible and responsive operation. The cameras also feature AR photo and video shooting mode. This device is 140.93 x 72.97 x 7.5mm, and it'll roll with Android Oreo right out the gate.

Talking about design, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is carved out of a single block of stainless steel. There is a dual camera setup on the rear with 12MP wide-angle sensor and 13MP telephoto sensor. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and is said to receive Face Unlock feature via OTA update in Q2 2018. The new Nokia 6 is an Android One smartphone and comes with stock Android and two years of guaranteed major Android updates.

In white and copper, it really looks the business, with accents around the edges of the rear camera lenses and fingerprint scanner, as well as the sides of the phone.

Last year, Nokia pulled the biggest PR coup of MWC when it announced it was bringing back the 3310 - although the reality didn't live up to the nostalgia-tinted expectations.

It has 3000mAh battery with fast charging.

Nokia 6 (2018) comes with a 5.5 inches IPS LCD display with 16:9 aspect ratio and Full HD resolution. We might also get to see an updated version of the company's Xperia Ear, if only because Sony has a solid track record of turning its wacky concepts into real products.
