Samsung Galaxy S9: everything we think we know about new smartphones

The first Samsung smartphone to have two cameras on the back was the Galaxy Note 8 and that feature will now be ported to the Galaxy S9+, too.

Samsung is going with the same battery sizes it used for the Galaxy S8 series previous year. Samsung is holding its event on 25th February, just before MWC 2018 in Barcelona. Its screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This is the year when Samsung consolidates on the gains instead of going for anything radical in terms of design, although in the camera functionality and performance of the Galaxy S9 some radical improvements are expected.

Behold, the Bixby button. Thankfully, the regular 3.5mm headphone jack that Apple and others have thrown away will remain, according to leaked images of the bottom of the phone posted by Blass on Twitter. Again we hear that the phone will include stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Both cameras are vertically oriented, and the fingerprint scanner is now located below the cameras.

Battery capacity is 3,000 mAh (Galaxy S9) and 3,500 mAh (Galaxy S9+), making it one of the best available. Under the hood, the Galaxy S9 duo will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or its equivalent Exynos 9810 SoC with 4GB of RAM for the base model and 6GB of RAM for the Galaxy S9+.

Finally, the Redditor confirmed that the S9 does in fact have its own 3D emoji feature, which he calls "a mix between animoji and bitmoji".

When it comes to the Galaxy S9's pricing and release, well, things are looking like a bit of a mixed bag. Today, however, a new report has revealed nearly every detail there is to know about the phones.

At first glance, it nearly appears as if Samsung is cooking up a method to allow users to create cartoon versions of their own faces rather than having to pick from pre-selected characters to animate. Fresh renders of the Galaxy S9 series have revealed colour options, and a separate leak has outed specifications of the upcoming range.

You only have until March 1 to avail of this promo. "It's really that similar", said Reddit user.

Another of the possible Galaxy S9 features is the inclusion of a modular design, enabling hardware accessories to be grafted on in the manner of Moto Mods.
