Facebook/WestworldHBOHBO's "Westworld" will be back for another season in 2018. Now, with Westworld's Super Bowl trailer for Season 2, we get a better look at what that new reality will be, and (finally) a premiere date. Meanwhile, the teaser introduces two mysterious users that hint at the season 2 plot. The Season 2 trailer is full of gorgeous shots of open plains, horses, cowboys, and Native Americans, but in expected Westworld fashion, those attractive sights quickly begin to fall apart.
It also includes the show's official credit line: "Created for television by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are executive producers with J.J. Abrams, Athena Wickham, Roberto Patino, Richard Lewis and Ben Stephenson".
In addition, the trailer can show footage from the entire season since production wrapped up some time ago.
During the Super Bowl, HBO released a commercial for the sci-fi/western drama that promised a return in April.
But then things get, you know, creepy and incredible. However, before the unidentified user can continue her message, a system override happens and begins loading "Journey Into Night".
What's next for the Man in Black, and the other human inhabitants trapped inside of Westworld in season two?
Katja Herbers (The Leftovers), Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom), Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow) and Gustaf Skarsgard (Vikings) have joined the cast for the coming season; in addition, Season 1 standouts Louis Herthum and Talulah Riley have been promoted to series regulars for Season 2. I know some people had problems with Westworld season 1 - it's twisty, Lost-inspired story structure, full of big reveals and key details being deliberately withheld to further the mystery, brought out complaints on Twitter.
Hale references the "Journey into Night" unveiling of the new Westworld narrative.
The new user then continued, "Ford took it in stride". More than a year and a half following the first season finale, Westworld stands poised to burst back into action on April 22 with 10 brand new episodes, and a brand new status quo.
